Itinerary:
Thursday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey to the 4-star Holiday Inn, Aylesbury with a lunch stop in Royal Leamington Spa en-route. Depart at 14.00hrs to continue our journey to the hotel, arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room.
Friday
Today we have free time in Oxford, we also include a visit to Waddesdon Manor, a French Renaissance-style château set in a sweeping 5,000-acre estate. Built in the late 19th century by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, this imperious mansion houses an exceptional collection of French decorative arts and British paintings, alongside impressive formal gardens.
Saturday
Today, we visit Bletchley Park to discover the incredible achievements of Britain's WWII codebreakers at this English country house and estate in the village of Bletchley. It was here that Alan Turing and his colleagues helped crack Germany's Enigma Code. Visit the Codebreaking Huts and Blocks, Alan Turing's office, the library, wartime garages and explore a series of interactive exhibitions.
Sunday
Following a leisurely start join the coach at 11.00hrs to enjoy a scenic drive through the Chilterns National Landscape, a beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a stop in the historic town of Amersham, 'Gateway to the Chiltern's'. Enjoy time to explore and obtain lunch in the picturesque town lined with half-timbered Tudor houses, 17th-century coaching inns, and iconic Market Hall. The town may be familiar to some of you as it featured in the classic film Four Weddings and a Funeral and hit TV series Midsomer Murders. Return to the hotel mid-afternoon to relax and enjoy a cream tea.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our journey home with a stop at the Royal British Legion National Remembrance Gardens en-route with time to explore and obtain lunch. Depart at 15.00hrs to continue our journey home.
