Immerse yourself in unrivalled festive splendour as you wander staterooms, chapels and the private apartments at the home of the mighty Prince Bishops at Auckland Palace, transformed with a touch of holiday magic, see the elaborate 18th-century nativity scene from Naples, comprising over 400 intricately crafted figures depicting the birth of Jesus and experience AGLOW, a spectacular Christmas light trail with Europe's longest light tunnel and the UK's tallest lit Christmas tree. We’ve also included visits to Barnard Castle and Harrogate.

Itinerary:
Friday
Depart Leyland at 10.00hrs for our journey to Redworth Hall Hotel with a lunch stop in Barnard Castle en-route with time to explore and obtain lunch, re-join the coach at 14.30hrs to continue our journey to the hotel. Arrive to a warm North East welcome with tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room.
Saturday
Following a morning of leisure at the hotel our excursion today takes us to Auckland Palace, the proud home of the Prince Bishops of Durham, a magnificent example of the best-preserved Bishops' Palace in Europe. Enjoy free time to explore the festively decorated palace and staterooms designed to lead you on a journey of the life and times of the bishops who lived here. Included in our visit is entry to the architecturally beautiful Faith Museum where you can view the remarkable Neapolitan Nativity, a rare, monumental 18th-century Italian nativity diorama on seasonal display. When darkness falls, we enter AGLOW, the most beautiful festive light trail. Walk in wonder through one and a half magical miles of light and sound overlooked by the ancient palace. (Please note sensible footwear and warm clothing are advisable. AGLOW is a late afternoon/evening outdoor attraction set in Auckland Palace's beautiful Deer Park, and while they have prepared their paths to accommodate a pleasant walk, the route does include hills and some uneven terrain. There is a secondary route which includes as much of the trail as possible while providing accessibility for wheelchairs and those with reduced mobility). Following our visit return to the hotel for our evening meal.
Sunday
Today's excursion takes us to Beamish, the Living Museum of the North. Wrap up warm as we step back in time to experience Christmases from days gone by as Beamish comes alive with twinkly lights and festive magic. Take journeys around the site on complimentary vintage transport with lots of opportunities to obtain drinks and a bite to eat in authentic hostelries and cafes along the way.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our journey home with a stop in Harrogate en-route, enjoy time to obtain lunch and perhaps do some Christmas shopping before re-joining the coach at 14.00hrs to continue our journey home.
