Itinerary
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 08.30hrs for our journey to Wemyss Bay with a suitable lunch stop en-route, board the ferry across to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, continue to the Glenburn Hotel our island home for the next four nights. Help yourself to welcome tea/coffee on arrival while your luggage is taken to your room.
Monday
This morning's excursion takes us on a visit to the neo-gothic Mount Stuart House and Gardens, one of the most technologically advanced houses of its age, set within 300 acres of landscaped gardens, woodland, and coast. In the afternoon, sit back and relax as we enjoy a scenic tour of the island before arriving back in Rothesay to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Tuesday
This morning board the ferry in Rothesay to Wemyss Bay, take a brief pause in the seaside holiday town of Largs famous for Nardini's Ice Cream shop. Followed by a visit to Glasgow. Enjoy an afternoon tea at Mackintosh at the Willow with a guided tour of the magnificent tea rooms. Re-opened to the public in 2018 following extensive renovation, the original Willow Tea Rooms building was opened by Miss Cranston and designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1903. Enjoy a little free time in Glasgow afterwards before returning to Wemyss Bay to board the ferry back to Rothesay.
Wednesday
This morning, we take a short ferry from Rhubodach to Colintraive from where we travel along the banks of loch Fyne to the ancestral seat of the chiefs of Clan Campbell, Inveraray Castle and Gardens. Enjoy a guided tour around one of Scotland's finest stately homes, allowing free time for lunch in the tea rooms, re-join the coach to journey south to Crarae Garden where Discover this exotic splash of wilderness in a Himalayan-style glen, set in the gentle hills of Argyll. Head back to the 'wee ferry' at Colintraive to return to Rhubodach.
Thursday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast to bid farewell to the beautiful Isle of Bute, board the ferry back to Wemyss Bay on the mainland to continue our journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
