Book NowJoin us as we head north to Perth for our Braemar Highland Games Tour. For almost 200 years the highlight of our tour, the Braemar Gathering has been number one on the sporting calendar in Scotland. Nestled beneath heather-strewn mountains this is the most prominent and well-attended Highland Games in the World, drawing crowds from across the globe. Held in the beautiful village of Braemar we head to the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, home of the Highland Games, there they continue an ancient tradition of Gatherings, one that can be traced back to the time of King Malcolm Canmore over 900 years ago, now regularly attended by the reigning monarch and members of the British Royal Family. Enjoy iconic spectacles with traditional dress aplenty of massed pipe bands and lone piper performances, highland dancing competitions, hill and track events, Tug O War and of course the heavy events such as tossing the caber and hammer throwing, all making for a great traditional event. We have also included a visit to the picturesque fishing village of Anstruther and a photo opportunity at the wonderful equine sculptures, The Kelpies. Itinerary
Friday
Depart Leyland at 09.00hrs for our journey north to Perth with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
Saturday
Following breakfast, we journey from Perth into the heart of the Cairngorms National Park to attend the highlight of our tour, the wonderful Gathering, the Braemar Highland Games.
Sunday
Morning in Perth allowing time to explore, join the coach at 12.30hrs as we journey to the coast to spend an afternoon by the sea in the charming village of Anstruther, the largest in a string of picturesque, old-fashioned fishing villages along the stretch of the Fife coast know as the East Neuk. Perhaps explore the harbour, tuck into quality fish and chips from Anstruther Fish Bar which in recent years has won numerous awards or have a wee dram in the historic pub the Dreel Tavern just a few minutes from the harbour front or visit the Wee Couper of Fife for any unique Scotch Whisky gifts. How ever you decide to spend your time here don't forget to soak up the amazing views.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast before heading home head to The Helix to visit the Kelpies for a photo opportunity before continuing our journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
