Itinerary:
Friday
Depart Leyland at 08.30hrs for our journey to the Barn Hotel and Spa with a visit to Nottingham, home to Robin Hood and Nottingham Lace with time to explore and obtain lunch. Depart Nottingham at 15.000hrs to continue our journey to the hotel, arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room. This evening enjoys live tribute entertainment from the 60's, dig out the minis and hippy chic as we swing into the 60's and celebrate the decade of peace and love (optional) with prizes for best dressed costume of the decade, join us in a decade quiz.
Saturday
This morning following a leisurely start we visit beautiful historic town Grantham recognised in the Domesday Book in 1086, allowing time to explore. This afternoon takes us to Rutland, England's smallest county to board the Rutland Belle. Cruise the stunning Rutland Water reservoir, a haven for waterbirds with commentary to highlight points of interest. This evening, we celebrate the 70's, get into the Saturday Night Fever disco groove, dig out your platforms, flairs and maxi dress as you dress for the era (optional) with prizes for best dressed costume of the decade, join us in a decade quiz.
Sunday
Today takes us to magnificent Burghley House and Gardens, wander Tudor interiors of gilded staterooms filled with sumptuous decoration, glamorous furniture, Old Masters and intricate plaster ceilings, visit the old kitchen with vaulted ceiling and shining copper pans, stand in awe in the Bow Room, and journey through beautiful bedrooms, billiard rooms chapel and much more. Outside the gardens are busting with life featuring imaginative planting, sculptures and surprises that are sure to delight. Depart Burghley at 14.30hrs, return to the hotel to relax or use the leisure facilities. Tonight, back at the hotel celebrate the 80's, an era of infectious pop tunes to massive Rock anthems, bring out the power suits, shoulder pads and crazy hairstyles as you dress for the era (optional) with prizes for best dressed costume of the decade, join us in a decade quiz.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home, before we do our excursion today takes us to the fine stone town of historic Stamford, with over 600 listed buildings and 5 medieval churches experience Stamford's charm, character and outstanding shopping and foodie scene with time to explore and obtain lunch. Depart Stamford at 14.30hrs to continue our journey home.
