Walk in the footsteps of golfing legends, royals, heretics, famous cats, and residents on a guided walking tour of St Andrews, the knowledgeable guide bringing St Andrews to life with key stops at The Old Golf Course. St Andrews Castle, St Andrews Cathedral, and the University of St Andrews. Visit our host town, the bustling seaside town of Broughty Ferry known as ‘The Jewel in Dundee’s Crown’ and Arbroath with its attractive old harbour, home to the famous Arbroath Smokie. Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.00hrs for our journey to Broughty Ferry near Dundee with a suitable lunch stop en-route
Tuesday
Morning of leisure at the hotel, at 12noon join the coach as we travel into Dundee for free time to explore, allowing time for lunch, there is plenty of choice in the city's many cafes and restaurants to suit every palate, perhaps visit RRS Discovery, Discovery Point the 5-star attraction located adjacent to the wonderful V&A Museum, or discover the story behind Dundee's industrial, textile heritage at Discovery's sister museum, Verdant Works.
Wednesday
This morning following breakfast we journey along the coast to visit to the pretty harbour town of Arbroath, home to the famous Arbroath Smokie, perhaps visit the Signal Tower Museum (free admission) at the harbour to learn of Arbroath's Maritime Heritage and the world-famous Smokie or sample Arbroath Smokies at MM Spinks on Marketgate, perhaps walk up to The Fit o the Toon, the old part of the town where the Brothock Burn meets the sea. In the afternoon we travel to Forfar to visit Glamis Castle, the legendary setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth and once beloved childhood home to the Queen Mother.
Thursday
This morning's excursion takes us across the Tay to St Andrews Royal and Ancient Golf Club to pick up our guide for a 1.5hr walking tour around the main sights of St Andrews, stroll the main sights of St Andrews, discover how it is home to golf, has the oldest university in Scotland and more, followed by free time to explore at leisure and obtain lunch, join the coach at 14.30hrs as we make our way back to the hotel with a stop in our host town, Broughty Ferry en-route.

Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.

With fully equipped gym, heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi (there is a charge of £5.00 per day for guests to use the hotels leisure facilities) as well as a relaxing hotel lounge bar. Guest bedrooms are spacious, tastefully furnished, and comfortable, a great place to relax following a busy day exploring. N.B There is guest accommodation over 3 wings, Abercromby wing is the only hotel wing that offers lift access. Hamilton and Wylde’s Wing have no lift access, the double rooms are in these wings and twins are in the Hamilton Wing, most twin rooms have walk-in showers. |
