Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to Pitlochry with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Arrive to a warm Scottish welcome while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday - Thursday
Today we visit Drummond Castle Gardens in Crieff, one of Europe's most important and impressive formal gardens dating back to the 17th century. The gardens have featured in many TV series and films including Rob Roy and Outlander.
Today we stay in Pitlochry with a cream tea and admission to the museum at Atholl Palace Hotel, a unique attraction set in the old servant's wing which celebrates the social history of the hotel from when it first opened as a Hydropathic establishment in 1878 through to its re-opening after World War II and beyond. Uncover stories of unusual and torturous spa treatments, colourful entrepreneurs, bankruptcy and war-time evacuees. Today we also visit Blair Castle, Pitlochry, a 5-star attraction on the outskirts of the Victorian town. Uncover a story of 19 generations of the Stewarts and Murray's of Atholl, a story that will take you from Mary Queen of Scots to the Civil War, from the Act of Union to the Jacobite cause and the Battle of Culloden, and from the Isle of Man to Queen Victoria's love affair with the Scottish Highlands and her presentation of colours to the Atholl Highlanders.
Today's excursion takes us into the heart of the Cairngorms National Park to Rothiemurchus, a special and beautiful place in the Highlands and jewel in the Cairngorms crown. Sir David Attenborough described it as 'One of the Glories of Wild Scotland'. This privately owned estate within Strathspey is one of the most treasured areas of the National Park because of its special relationship between people and nature, its beauty, magnificent pine forests and abundant wildlife. Rothiemurchus has been owned and cared for by the Grant family for 500 years providing a snapshot of traditional Highland estate life amongst the ancient forests and mountains, experience wild Scotland in all its glory.

About the hotel | The 4-star Fishers Hotel is located in the heart of the beautiful Victorian town of Pitlochry in scenic Perthshire with award-winning gardens surrounding the hotel. Relax in the lounge or bar area, a great place to meet up with friends old and new. Guest bedrooms vary in size and shape but all are beautifully furnished and decorated rooms, designed with comfort in mind, a great place to relax following a busy day exploring. N.B Although the hotel has a lift, this is in the main building only. You can access all areas of the hotel, however in some of the corridors there are stairs. The Graden wing does have ground floor rooms, although steps lead down to the ground floor. The hotel has rooms with a limited number of step-in showers (on request only when booking), some of these rooms are a distance from the main public facilities. |
