Itinerary:
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 08.30hrs for our journey to Carmarthen with a lunch stop in Newtown Mid-Wales en-route. Depart Newtown at 13.30hrs to continue our journey to the Ivy Bush Hotel, arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee and Welsh cakes on arrival while your case is taken to your room.
Monday
Today's excursion takes us to the popular holiday resort of Tenby, with old town walls, interesting little alleyways and side streets to explore as well as superb beaches, allowing time to explore and obtain lunch. In the afternoon we visit Picton Castle and Gardens regarded as Pembrokeshire's finest stately home.
Tuesday
Today we enjoy a day of leisure in our host town Carmarthen. Located on the banks of the River Tywi, Carmarthen is thought to be the oldest town in Wales with a rich and colourful history, one of its most famous early residents was King Arthur's wizard, Merlin the Magician
Wednesday
Today our excursion takes us to picturesque St. Davids, Britain's smallest city, birthplace of St David the Welsh patron saint and place of pilgrimage since the 6th century. Perhaps visit the cathedral, a beautiful iconic landmark or the brooding Gothic ruins of the Bishops Palace. St Davids is well known for its fresh produce and coastal cuisine making it a real foodie paradise, with a great choice of independent shops and Welsh crafts there's something for everyone in pretty St Davids. Enjoy the views as our return journey to the hotel takes us around the Preseli Mountains.
Thursday
Following breakfast check out of our hotel to begin the second leg of our Welsh adventure to North Wales travelling along the coast we make a lunch stop in Barmouth, allowing time to explore and obtain lunch in the beautiful coastal resort where the mountains meet the sea. Depart at 14.30hrs to continue our journey via Bala, Corwen and the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape a wonderfully scenic area to arrive at the Beaufort Park Hotel to a warm welcome with tea/coffee and Bara Brith on arrival while your case is taken to your room.
Friday
This morning's excursion takes us to beautiful Bodnant Gardens located in the Conwy Valley the garden is a Grade I listed horticultural gem, home to botanical collections from around the globe. May is a great time to witness the Wildflower Meadow spring into life with a riot of colourful wildflowers as far as the eye can see. This afternoon we head to the coast to visit the popular seaside resort of Llandudno, perhaps walk in the footsteps of the Victorian's and take a stroll along the wide promenade to take in the sea air or enjoy some retail therapy in the pretty arcades and main shopping street which runs parallel to the seafront.
Saturday
Today our excursion takes us through beautiful Welsh countryside including the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to the Dee Valley. Board the Rheilfford Llangollen Railway for a nostalgic train journey from Carrogg to Llangollen. In Llangollen we take a motorboat cruise on the Llangollen Canal, known as the 'Stream in the Sky' enjoy the peaceful tranquillity and wonderful views as we gently glide along across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, the country's biggest navigable viaduct.
Sunday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey, before we head home today's excursion takes us to the historic city of Chester, allowing time to explore and obtain lunch departing at 15.00hrs to continue our journey home.
