Itinerary
Tuesday
Depart Leyland at 11.30am for our journey to the Lake District to make the most of our holiday we travel straight to Kendal to enjoy free time to explore and obtain lunch in our host town before re-joining the coach at 16.00hrs to check in at the hotel. Receive a warm Lakeland welcome with tea/coffee on arrival while your case is taken to your room.
Wednesday
This morning, we travel via Shap to Pooley Bridge where we will board a heritage vessel on Ullswater to cruise across the Lake to Glenridding, you will have some free time in Glenridding to explore and obtain lunch before re-joining the coach to embark on a scenic journey back to the hotel via the Lake Districts highest pass open to motor vehicles, the Kirkstone Pass at an altitude of 1,489 ft offering wonderful views.
Thursday
This morning, we will enjoy a little free time in Bowness, a sprawling town on the shore of Lake Districts largest lake, Windermere. Sit back, relax and take in the magnificent views as you journey across the lake on a half lake cruise to Lakeside Pier where the coach will be waiting. From here travel the short distance to the picturesque village of Cartmel a perfect chocolate-box Lakeland village, famous for its sticky toffee pudding and home to a wide variety of traditional Lakeland inns, cosy tea rooms and cutting-edge gourmet restaurants. The medieval village of Cartmel has a rich heritage dating back to 677 with wonderful architecture including the Priory Church of St Mary and St Michael, from the square ancient streets lead off each worth a wander for the variety of shops on offer.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast but your Lakeland adventure isn't over yet, take another Lakeland scenic journey, first stop is Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District, once home to English poet William Wordsworth where we spend an hour before stopping for a lunch stop in Grasmere, a picturesque village with gift shops aplenty and lovely places to eat, continue our journey along Coniston towards the edge of the Lakes to make a stop in Grange-over-Sands, a pretty resort with an Edwardian charm on the southern tip of the Cartmel Peninsula nestled between the mountain and the sea, perhaps take a stroll to take in the beautiful views over Morecambe Bay before bidding farewell to the Lake District and continuing our journey home.
