Itinerary
Tuesday
Depart Leyland at 09.00hrs for our journey to Holyhead to board the 14.10hrs Irish Ferry to Dublin, due to late arrival at the hotel we have no evening meal booked at the hotel however a lunch/dinner voucher is included on the ferry providing you with a main course and non-alcoholic drink. Disembark and re-join the coach as we continue our journey to Treacy's Hotel in Waterford.
Wednesday
This morning, we make our way to the famous House of Waterford Crystal where we enjoy a 90minute guided factory tour taking in all aspects of the production of Waterford Crystal including glass blowing, crystal cutting, sculpting and engraving. In the afternoon we enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of Waterford Treasures, comprising 3 museums within steps of each other in the Viking Triangle. This tour covers the Bishop's Palace and Medieval Museum, given by character actors in period costume. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Waterford at your own pace.
Thursday
Today we make our way to the heritage narrow gauge railway of Waterford and Suir Valley in Bilberry where we take a morning one way journey salong the picturesque banks of the River Suir to the beautiful Mount Congreve Gardens, home to one of the largest collection of plants in Ireland, here we enjoy a 1 hour garden tour giving insights into the history of Mount Congreve House and Gardens, at lunchtime enjoy an soup and sandwich lunch before re-joining the coach to make our way back to the hotel along the scenic Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark route via the seaside resort of Tramore.
Friday
Today starts with a guided tour of the Dunbrody Famine Ship where costumed performers provide a world-class interpretation of the famine emigrant experience, providing a unique insight into the bravery and fortitude of the Irish people. Following a brief stop in Wexford allowing free time to obtain lunch we visit Johnstown Castle for a guided tour. Discover the 19th century castle and its incredibly long servant's tunnel, this attraction also included the Irish Agricultural Museum, picturesque grounds, lakes and gardens.
Saturday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast with an early lunch stop in Kildare, allowing time to explore and obtain lunch before continuing our journey to the port to board the 14.45 Irish Ferries vessel back to Holyhead. Disembark in Holyhead and re-join the coach to continue our journey home.
