Depart Leyland at 0900 for the journey to Holyhead and the 1410 ferry to Dublin. Rejoin our
coach for the short journey to Newlands Cross and our overnight hotel.
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the journey across country to Westport, County Mayo.
Morning visit to Westport House and Gardens. Enjoy a guided tour of the historical house and
then spend time in the wonderful gardens. After lunch we will have a 1 hour guided walking tour of
Westport town and then some free time to explore the town’s lovely shops and cafes.
Today we take a short boat ride to the beautiful and remote Clare island. We will enjoy a
tour that will include Granuaile’s Castle. On a rocky headland at the harbour is the square tower which served as Granuaile’s (Grace O’Malley’s) castle. Later enjoy a stroll around the picturesque harbour before having a soup and sandwich lunch in Sailor’s Bar before returning by ferry to Westport.
This morning we travel to Kylemore Abbey located in the heart of the Connemara countryside. They Abbey has been owned and occupied by the Benedictine community since 1920. Later we then travel to the award winning Glen Keen Farm where we will experience a sheep herding demonstration and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and home baked scone before a traditional Irish music session. Afternoon
scenic drive around Connemara including a visit to Clifden.
After breakfast we bid farewell to Westport, returning to Dublin and the 13:50 ferry to Holyhead
from where we return to Leyland.
