Book NowJoin us as we head to Austria for our Alpine Quartet Tour. The mountainous Bregenzerwald is perfectly framed by Lake Constance and the lush Alpine Valleys of Austria and Switzerland. Our base for this tour is historic Feldkirch where we will spend 5 nights, we will have a guided tour of the town to learn more of its history which spans over 800 years, the enchanting medieval arcades and winding alleyways can be found in the historic centre. This is an itinerary packed tour where we will go off the beaten track with visits to Schattenburg Castle which towers over the town to enjoy the wonderful views and Salem Castle, a magnificent blend of Gothic and Baroque styles, the most significant landmark in the Lake Constance region, a former Cistercian Abbey in the 1100’s. We will take three panoramic train rides to get the most from this wonderful area, along the way we will sample local cheese, wine and chocolate and take a ferry across Lake Constance. ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is not currently operational. Introduction has been delayed and now looking to be operational during the 2nd quarter of 2025 (looking like May 2025), the only travel documents customers need if they are travelling to the EU before this time will be valid passport not more than 10 years old with at least 3 months remaining on the return date.
Cost of the ETIAS will be 7 euros and can be done online, customers will need an email address, there passport and a debit credit card to hand when they make their application, please allow at least 96 hrs before date of travel to apply, the ETIAS is valid for 3 years or until the passport renews whichever comes first.
For customers who are local Ava Travel will be able to assist and complete the ETIAS registration face to face, the cost will be £16.00 which will include the ETIAS registration and cover staff and admin costs.

Itinerary
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 14:00 for our journey to Hull to catch the 20:30 overnight North Sea ferry to Rotterdam. Enjoy dinner and entertainment on-board before retiring to your cabin.
N.B We suggest taking an overnight bag containing your essentials and any medication for the overnight ferry and your overnight hotel in Germany as access to the coach during the crossing is strictly prohibited. There is also no porterage at the overnight hotel.
Monday
Enjoy breakfast onboard before re-joining the coach to disembark the ferry. Continue our journey to our overnight hotel in Saarbrucken, Germany arriving in time for our evening meal.
Tuesday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, travel via the Black Forest and Switzerland to our hotel in Feldkirch where we will spend the next 5 nights.
Wednesday - Saturday
Free time in the resort with the following excursions:
Half day excursion: Included local bus, guided tour of historic Feldkirch and the entrance to Schattenburg Castle Museum.
Full day excursion through the Bregenzerwald with a visit to a traditional cheesemaker, followed by a train journey on the little Walderbahnle Railway from Bezau to Schwarzenberg before traversing the breath-taking Bodelpass.
Travel to Lake Constance with an included railway trip at Rheineck. Travel to visit Appenzell with its famous painted houses before an included train ride from Apenzell to Altstatten followed by a visit to Hohenems for a chocolate tasting at the traditional Fenkart Schlosskaffe.
See the old city of Constance, cross the lake on a ferry to Meersberg with a visit to Salem Castle. Stop in Hagnau for an included wine tasting before returning to Feldkirch.
Sunday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast to bid a fond farewell to Austria, travel via Switzerland and the Black Forest to our overnight hotel in Saarbruken Germany, arriving in time for our evening meal.
N.B We suggest taking an overnight bag containing your essentials and any medication for the overnight hotel in Germany and the overnight ferry crossing as there is no porterage. At the overnight hotel and access to the coach during the ferry crossing is strictly prohibited.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, continue our journey to Rotterdam with a lunch stop in Dinant, Belgium en-route, continue to the port in Rotterdam to board the 21:00 overnight ferry to Hull, enjoy an evening meal and entertainment onboard before retiring to your cabin. N.B it is important to take anything you might need for the crossing as access to the coach is strictly prohibited during the crossing.
Tuesday
Following breakfast onboard re-join the coach to disembark and continue our journey home.
