Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to Irvine in Scotland with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Arrive at the Riverside Lodge Hotel to a warm Scottish welcome while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday
Today's attraction takes us along the Ayrshire coast for a morning visit to Culzean Castle with its dramatic cliff-top setting, Robert Adam architecture, fascinating history and beautiful surroundings, there is no surprise that this is one of Scotland's most popular visitor attractions. The castle is filled to the turrets with treasures that tell the stories of generations who lived here. Opulent to the extreme wander the park and flamboyant formal gardens. In the afternoon visit the birthplace of Scotland's National Bard Robert Burns in the beautiful village of Alloway. See the world's most important collection of Burns artefacts and works in the interactive museum and visit the humble cottage where he was born and raised, don't miss Alloway Auld Kirk and the Brig o' Doon, immortalised in Burns's poem Tam o' Shanter.
Wednesday
Today we take a scenic ferry journey across to the beautiful Isle of Arran, known as Scotland in miniature. When visitors think of Scotland, they conjure up images of mountains, castles, waterfalls, distilleries and stone circles, the Isle of Arran has every single one of these and much more to share. On the island we visit the grand baronial Brodick Castle teeming with history and surrounded by mountains, Brodick is every inch the quintessential island castle. Wander through formal gardens on the Silver Garden Trail and Plant Hunters' Walk, or venture further to discover ponds, waterfalls and woodland trails, where you may spot red squirrels.
Thursday
This morning, we head to Wemyss Bay to board a short ferry crossing to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Just 15 miles long and less than 5 miles wide enjoy the beautiful Isle of Bute on a scenic and leisurely tour around the island with photo stops and magnificent views over to the Sound of Bute to Arran, includes a visit to the outstanding and flamboyant Victorian, Gothic style mansion of Mount Stuart, wander wonderful gardens set within a 300-acre estate.
Friday
Check out of our hotel to bid farewell to our hosts and Ayrshire for our journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.

About the hotel | The Riverside Lodge Hotel is a modern hotel located on the outskirts of Irvine, a great base for exploring this wonderfully picturesque area. Set in its own ample grounds with extensive outside seating area, the hotel owns a Green Tourism Award. Guest bedrooms are spacious, comfortable, elegantly decorated, and well-equipped rooms for maximum rest and relaxation. Although the hotel doesnt have a lift there are 64 ground floor rooms that can be booked on request, the remaining rooms are on the 1st floor accessible by a staircase. Rooms are all shower over bath. There is one fully disabled access room that is bookable on request, as there is only one of this room type the room will be in high demand. |
