From Edwardian Home to military hospital during the great war to Officers’ Mess from 1942 and more recently the charming Petwood Hotel but it is as the home of the legendary 617 “Dambusters” Squadron in WW2 that the Petwood is best known. During your stay in this little piece of history, we explore ‘Bomber County’ heritage with a visit to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, International Bomber Command Centre along with historic towns and villages, and the beautiful historic city of Lincoln.

Itinerary:
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey to Woodhall Spa and the Petwood Hotel, home of the Dambusters. Enjoy a lunch stop en-route in Nottingham, departing at 13.30hrs to continue our journey, arrive to a warm welcome while you case is taken to your room.
Monday - Wednesday
Today we head to the historic city of Lincoln whose cathedral towers majestically over the city and its many award-winning historic attractions including a Norman Castle and Georgian houses. There's great shopping here and a wonderful foodie scene too with a wealth of places to eat, many using locally sourced produce. Enjoy time to explore and obtain lunch before visiting the International Bomber Command Centre just outside Lincoln, the only place in the world where the devastating losses of the Bomber Command unit during World War II are commemorated. Uncover the stories and histories of those involved and take time to reflect, the centre includes the UK's tallest war memorial.
Morning visit to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre to experience the atmosphere of a bomber airfield, complete with its own Lancaster Bomber 'Just Jane'. This afternoon we have free time to enjoy the hotel's history, memorabilia, gardens and grounds or walk into the delightful village of Woodhall Spa with its Dambuster's history and its unique Kinema in the Woods an old-fashioned cinema tucked away in woodland filled with retro decor, live organ performances and ice cream in the interval.
Enjoy an excursion to the heart of the dramatic fenland to Boston, a gem of a historic market town dominated by 14th century St Botolph's Church whose high tower is lovingly known by the locals as 'The Stump'. Continue to Spalding famous as the centre of the UK's flower industry, with it's elegant Georgian Terraces and tree-lined river walks. Visit the Springfield Outlet Shopping Centre and award-winning Festival Gardens, a beautiful showcase garden.
Thursday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our return journey home with a lunch stop at the Batley Mill Outlet and Garden Centre en-route with time to explore and obtain lunch, depart at 14.00hrs to continue our journey home.
