Join us as we head to the island of Zealand and historic Copenhagen for our attraction packed Denmark and Sweden Scandinavian Adventure.  Enjoy free time in Copenhagen to experience interesting museums, beautiful architecture and classic attractions that the Danish capital has to offer.  Visit picturesque Frederiksborg castle, the largest in Scandinavia and Europe’s grandest Renaissance castle.  Journey across the impressive Oresund Bridge to Sweden the largest country in the Nordic Region.  Visit Malmo, Sweden’s gateway port to Europe with a short, guided tour of the city highlights before exploring the impressive cathedral city of Lund with a visit to Kulturen, a fascinating open-air museum that feature historic buildings and wonderful gardens.  Back on the island of Zealand in the Viking town of Roskilde we visit the Viking Ship Museum and the picture-perfect 18th century fishing village of Dragor.  Don’t miss out on the great tour to visit two of Scandinavia’s neighbouring countries.

Itinerary:

Sunday
Depart Leyland at 14.00hrs for our journey to Hull to board the overnight ferry to Rotterdam, enjoy dinner, entertainment and shopping onboard before retiring to your cabin for the evening.

Monday
Arrive in Rotterdam refreshed, enjoy breakfast onboard before disembarking. Re-join the coach to continue our journey to our overnight hotel in Hamburg area with a suitable lunch stop en-route.

Tuesday
Check out of our overnight hotel following breakfast for the journey to the Copenhagen Grand Hotel. En-route board the ferry to make the short crossing between Germany and Denmark. Disembark to continue our journey, arrive to a warm Danish welcome while your case is taken to your room. Tonight, we enjoy dinner at the IL Rosmarino Restaurant, less than a 10-minute pleasant walk from our hotel.

Wednesday
Today is our driver day off. Meet up with a local guide for a 2hr introductory walking tour of Copenhagen, discover its history whilst admiring such landmarks as Amalienborg, Nyhavn and Christiansborg Slot. Continue our sightseeing with a 1-hour boat trip along the picturesque canals where you can see the iconic Little Mermaid statue and the magnificent Opera House. The rest of the day is free time to explore and obtain an evening meal, perhaps continue sightseeing by purchasing a ticket for the Hop On Hop Off bus, visit places like Nyhavn harbour with waterside restaurants and vintage sailing ships or Tivoli Gardens, one of the world's most magical classic amusement parks in the heart of Copenhagen.

Thursday
Today's excursion takes us to the Baltic gateway port of Helsinger, location of Denmark's famous Kronborg Castle which is the setting for Shakespeare's epic Elizabethan drama, Hamlet. Built in 1574-1585 its elaborate renaissance and baroque interiors will take you on a journey through time. In the afternoon visit Frederiksborg Castle. Built across three islands in a lake, the castle makes for a magnificent sight with more than 70 richly decorated rooms also home to the Danish Museum of National History.

Friday
Today our excursion takes us across the impressive Oresund Bridge, the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe, star of the popular TV series The Bridge. Our first stop is the 13th century city of Malmo with its attractive old town where we take a short guided tour of the city's highlights. Following some free time continue our journey to Lund, A charming but little-known university town where an astronomical clock strikes twice a day in the cathedral. Perhaps explore the impressive cathedral or stroll cobblestone streets with half-timbered houses. Today in Lund we include a visit to Kulturen, a fascinating open-air museum with a collection of Swedish rural houses and gardens, step into buildings to experience life as it was in town and country from the Middle Ages up to the 1930's. This evening why not take a ferry and visit Reffen the largest street food market in the Nordic region, a waterside oasis offering great food, music and atmosphere.

Saturday
Today's destination is the Viking town of Roskilde, home to a remarkable cathedral where almost all Danish Kings and Queens are buried. Explore the Viking Ship Museum displaying the remains of five original 11th century ships, experience what life was life as a Viking. Later, drive to the picturesque 18th century fishing village of Dragor with pretty harbourside. Walk among half-timbered thatched cottages with postage stamp-sized gardens offering a vivid impression of what life was like centuries ago. Return to Copenhagen for free time to relax at the hotel, take a waterside stroll or just soak up the atmosphere on your last night in the Danish capital.

Sunday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast to begin our journey home, crossing the Great Belt Bridge continue our journey to our overnight hotel with a suitable lunch stop en-route.

Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast to continue our journey to Rotterdam with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Board the overnight ferry back to Hull, enjoy dinner, entertainment and shopping onboard before retiring to your cabin for the evening.

Tuesday
Arrive in Hull refreshed, enjoy breakfast onboard before disembarking. Re-join the coach to continue our journey home.
