The east coast city of Dundee is one of many contrasts from the state-of-the-art V&A Museum to the heritage of its jute mills and a historic ship with a great story to tell. Enjoy beautiful countryside and coastal vistas dotted with picturesque fishing villages and historic towns as our excellent base allows us to discover both Fife to the south and Angus to the north combined with visits to wonderful attractions that highlight this area beautifully and a guide onboard for a full day to enhance the tour.

Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.00hrs for our journey to Scotland with a suitable lunch stop en-route, arrive at the Invercarse Hotel to a war welcome while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday - Thursday
Today we journey along the glittering Fife Coastal Route with a guided tour highlighting the fascinating heritage of the East Neuk of Fife. Take time in St Andrews, before heading further along the coast through charming fishing villages to Pittenweem, where many houses around the harbour are of traditional Fife design with red pantile or slate grey roofs and crow-step gables. From here, head for the lovingly restored Teasses Estate. Enjoy a guided tour of the formal gardens, the Walled Garden and Greenhouses.
The vibrant city of Dundee, with its waterfront development, is our destination this morning, visit Captain Scott's ship the RRS Discovery, explore the ship and relive the hardships and triumphs of the remarkable expedition to the Antarctic. Following time at leisure, continue our journey through Angus to Glamis Castle, enjoy a visit with guided tour of the splendid childhood home of Her Late Majesty the Queen Mother.
Today we take a scenic journey to see more of lovely Angus. First stop is the traditional seaside town of Arbroath, home to the famous 'Arbroath Smokie'. Head onto Stonehaven, with time to explore the sandy seafront and picture-perfect harbour. Continue our scenic journey onwards to Montrose with a visit to the House of Dun, an elegant Georgian country house where costumed guides lead you through its fascinating history, before returning to Dundee.

Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.

| About the hotel | The Invercarse Hotel is part of the Best Western Signature Collection, set in private wooded gardens overlooking the River Tay. The former mansion house offers a convenient base for visiting the city of Dundee which is just a five minute drive away and the beautiful surrounding areas of Fife and Perthshire to the south and west in addition to Angus and the Highlands to the North. Guest bedrooms are spacious, modernised, beautifully appointed rooms, a comfortable, relaxing haven after a busy day exploring. N.B the majority of the guest bedrooms have refurbished bathrooms with walk in showers. There is no lift, but the hotel has 30 ground floor rooms (available on request only) however guests will find batches of three steps along the ground floor corridor. |
