Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to Holyhead to board the afternoon ferry to Dublin. Re-join the coach as we disembark to continue our journey to the banks of Lough Ennell and the Bloomfield House Hotel and Spa, our beautiful Irish home for the next four nights.
Tuesday
Following a leisurely breakfast, we journey to Strokestown Park House where we enjoy a guided tour of the grand Georgian Palladian mansion decorated as it would have been in the Victorian Era. This magnificent house is filled with original furnishings and fabrics offering a glimpse into the past. In contrast there will be time for free-flow access into the gardens and the National Famine Museum within the grounds where the museum brings to life the struggles of the famine period.
Wednesday
Today following breakfast we travel into Dublin, Ireland's capital where we enjoy free time to explore and obtain lunch. Admire the wonderful Christmas lights that brighten the city during the festive season. Experience traditional Irish hospitality with a pint of Guinness in one of the lively pubs of Temple Bar or head to the Christmas Market on Smithfield Square, where you will find a wide selection of festive stalls offering gifts, crafts and seasonal treats. Perhaps head to Grafton Street in search of that special gift or to admire the beautiful window displays and take in this vibrant city from the comfort of a cosy café, the choice is yours. Later this afternoon we make our way to a beautifully restored 18th century church, home to the Pearse Lyons Whiskey Distillery where we enjoy a guided tour and tasting.
Thursday
This morning we visit the famous Newbridge Silverware for a guided tour of the factory. Experience first-hand how quality silver is crafted into jewellery, tableware and gift items. Following the tour, you will have time to visit the centre's Museum of Style Icons, which houses collections relating to Princess Diana, Marilyn Munroe, Audery Hepburn and many more. Later this afternoon we journey the short distance to Kildare Shopping Village for some festive, retail therapy with charming, fairy-lit streets and elegant storefronts, the village offers a variety of boutique and popup stores to browse amongst.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home. Re-trace our steps to Dublin ferry port for our sailing to Holyhead and continued journey home with fond memories of our time in Ireland.
