Itinerary:
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to Newcastle with a lunch stop in Hexham en-route. Depart Hexham at 14.30hrs to continue our journey to the Maldron Hotel, arrive to a warm North East welcome with tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival while your case is taken to your room.
Monday
Today we have a day of leisure in Newcastle, you are free to explore the friendly riverside city directly from the hotel. Explore centuries old history and magnificent architecture. The city is linked by 7 bridges and has a wonderful, bustling quayside, a great place to explore. Shop until you drop choosing from a great range of shopping centres and wonderful high streets. Lively bars, superb street food and an eclectic range of excellent cafes and restaurants line the streets. This wonderful, friendly city won't disappoint.
Tuesday
This morning for a change of pace we head to the award-winning attraction Beamish open air museum, well deserved winners of the Art Fund Museum of the Year Award 2025, the world-famous living museum of the North. Experience life in the North of England during the 1820's, 1900's, 1940's and 1950's. Journey around this wonderful site on complimentary vintage transport, the hop on hop off bus/tram of yesteryear. Take a short train journey, visit the sweet shop or a traditional chip shop, experience a 1940's wartime farm and disappear into the 1900's mine at the Pit Village and much more.
Wednesday
Today we take the road north past Blyth and Ashington, via Amble, and Warkworth to historic Alnwick. Visit magnificent Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland family dating back to 1309. This magnificent castle has featured in several Harry Potter films and also Downton Abbey. There is much to see here, including sumptuous state rooms. The beautifully landscaped Alnwick Garden is included and has many unique features and sculptures.
Thursday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, before heading home we visit Gateshead Metro Centre the Uk's top shopping centre for leisure and dining with time to browse and obtain lunch. Depart the metro Centre at 13.00hrs to continue our journey home.
