Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland 09.00hrs travel via the Peak District National Park with a lunch stop in Bakewell en-route, re-join the coach at 14.00hrs to continue our journey to Belton Woods.
Tuesday
Morning visit to Belvoir Castle and Gardens with guided tour of the Castle. Return to the hotel at 14.00hrs for leisure time to enjoy the hotel and its facilities.
Wednesday
Today,s excursion takes us to magnificent Lincoln Castle where the witches of Belvoir were hanged in 1619 after they were found guilty of using witchcraft and causing the death of the 6th Earl of Rutland's two young sons. Experience the imposing Victorian prison and extraordinary chapel, see the iconic Magna Carta charter that changed the course of history and explore the towers and dungeons around the Medieval Wall Walk (please note access to the Medieval Wall Walk is by stairs only). Followed by free time to explore Lincoln and obtain lunch before returning to the hotel at 15.00hrs.
Thursday
Today's excursion takes us to the beautiful area of Rutland to visit the beautiful Barnsdale Gardens, with no less than thirty-eight individual gardens over an eight-acre site to explore, there's plenty to see and do with a lovely tearoom on site too but save room for your cream tea this afternoon when we take our Rutland Water Cream Tea Cruise.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a lunch stop and visit to the Museum of Making in Derby, part of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site the museum celebrates the area's rich history, re-join the coach at 14.00hrs to continue our journey home.
