Historic Lincoln And Rutland Water

Itinerary:

Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs, journey through the magnificent Peak District with a lunch stop in Buxton en-route, depart at 13.30hrs to continue our journey to the hotel. Arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee whilst your case is taken to your room.

Tuesday - Thursday

Morning visit to Lincoln Aviation Heritage Centre followed by an afternoon of free time to explore the historic city of Lincoln and obtain lunch. Perhaps visit the magnificent cathedral one of the great cathedrals of the world or follow in the footsteps of kings and convicts at Lincoln castle. Lincoln boasts a variety of different shopping areas with a vibrant High Street lined with beloved brands and a Cathedral Quarter full of hidden gems, for luxury shopping try Cornhill Quarter, a modern area of designer brands and local independents. The city is a must for foodies with an abundance of places to eat and drink.

Morning visit to Rutland the UK's smallest county to enjoy a wonderful cruise on the Rutland Water Reservoir aboard the Rutland Belle. Enjoy the scenery from the water, amidst the sailors, anglers and waterbirds, whilst listening to commentary highlighting points of interest followed by a visit to historic Stamford allowing time to explore and obtain lunch. Wander this beautiful stone-built town famous for its buildings with beautiful facades favoured by film and TV producers, the town appears in The Crown, The Da Vinci Code and Middlemarch to name a few. Experience Stamford's charm and character, outstanding shopping and restaurants.

This morning, we head over the border in to Nottinghamshire to visit Newark on Trent situated on the banks of the River Trent, perhaps take a pleasant riverside stroll, maybe visit the castles quiet garden areas or venture through the castle wall ruins to explore its dungeons or find something lovely to eat an old converted riverside building or warehouses. Markets are often a feature of Newark with antique, crafts and general retail markets taking place at Newark Royal Market with the Town Hall as its picturesque backdrop. Re-join the coach at 13.30hrs to return to the hotel, allowing time to relax and enjoy the hotels leisure facilities.

Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a lunch stop at Trentham Shopping Village en-route departing at 14.30hrs to continue our journey home.
