Historic Portsmouth And Hover Across The Solent

Itinerary:

Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey to Portsmouth with a suitable lunch stop en-route.

Tuesday
This morning, we travel the short distance to Southsea Hoverport, take an exciting Hovercraft flight across the Solent to Ryde on the north coast of the Isle of Wight with a chance to meet the Hover Pilot. On arrival in Ryde enjoy lunch and free time to explore the busy coastal town. Enjoy golden sandy beaches, traditional amusements, cafes and a small harbour. Visit Union Street lined with superb cafes, bars, restaurants and independent shops. Halfway along the street, you'll come across the Royal Victoria Arcade, a beautiful spot for browsing quirky bargains. The retail adventure continues up the High Street, where a lively mix of shops, pubs and eateries ensures there's always something to catch your eye and tempt your tastebuds.

Wednesday
Today's excursion takes us along the coast to Lee-on-Solent to visit the Hovercraft Museum, the only one of its kind in the world, today we also visit Winchester a city steeped in history, once England's ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. Winchester offers its vistor world class attractions and architecture, award-winning pubs and restaurants and a tempting array of independent shops. This picturesque medieval city is surrounded by idyllic Hampshire villages and fabulous rolling countryside of the South Downs National Park.

Thursday
Today we have a day at the Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth, the only place in the world to see the Royal Navy, past, present and future. Featuring the Mary Rose Museum, world famous ships including HMS Victory and HMS Warrior, uncover 800 years of history encompassing the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Habour Tours and much more with your Ultimate Explorer ticket.

Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
