Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 10.00am for our journey to Shropshire, en-route we visit beautiful Biddulph Grange Gardens, a masterpiece if Victorian design with an important collection of plants from around the world. Spring is a time when the spectacular Chinese Gardens bursts into a riot of colour with golden statues, gilded bells and pagoda, wander through the fascinating stumpery and Egyptian Court, perhaps make a pit-stop at the tea rooms before re-joining the coach at 14.30hrs to continue our journey to the Park House Hotel, arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday/Thursday
Todays excursion takes us to RAF Cosford for an award-winning day out, explore the skies, marvel at the world's oldest spitfire and other classic aircraft in the War in the Air Hangar, visit the Cold War exhibits and uncover the immense story of the RAF, we also include a Bomber Command guided tour to enhance your visit. Return to the hotel mid afternoon to relax or explore Shifnal.
Today we travel to historic Shrewsbury, Shropshire's county town, encircled by a meandering loop of the River Severn the town centre is almost an island. Discover distinctive churches, castle, timber-framed buildings and a warren of higgledy-piggledy streets lined with magnificent architecture, home to 660 listed buildings and famous for being the birthplace of Charles Darwin. Sit back, relax and take a cruise on the Sabrina Boat along the River Severn, included in today's excursion.
This morning enjoy time at leisure, relax at the hotel or explore Shifnal. Join the coach at 11.00am for a visit to the village of Ironbridge part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ironbridge Gorge, take a little time to explore, walk across the famous iron bridge itself which spans the majestic River Severn or visit one of the cosy cafes before re-joining the coach at 12.30hrs for a visit to Blist Hill Victorian Town, explore shops and cottages, meet craftspeople demonstrating their trades and taste authentic food in the recreated working town.
Friday
Check out of our hotel at 10.00hrs, before heading home we have a lunch stop at the National Memorial Arboretum on the edge of the National Forest in Staffordshire, a year-round space to celebrate lives lived and commemorate lives lost, with time to explore, re-join the coach at 14.00hrs to continue our journey home.
