Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to York with a lunch stop in Grassington en-route, allowing free time to explore and obtain lunch in the fictional home of Darrowby in the new series of All Creatures Great and Small, depart Grassington at 14.30hrs to continue our journey to Elmbank Hotel, arrive to a warm welcome while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday
This morning's excursion takes us to the compact city of Ripon with time to explore and obtain lunch, perhaps visit the magnificent cathedral or one of its wonderful museums. This afternoon we head to Thirsk to step inside the World of James Herriot, the worlds most famous vet, this is where the real 'James Herriot' pen name for James Alfred 'Alf' Wright lived, worked and wrote his incredibly popular series of books based on his experiences as a young North Yorkshire vet. View props and three studio sets from the long-running tv series followed by free time in the market town of Thirsk.
Wednesday
Today is a free day to explore the historic city of York at leisure, filled with lots of things to see and do. Perhaps visit the wonderful Minster, take a walk along the city walls. Explore The National Railway Museum, The Jorvik Centre or the wonderful Castle Museum, wander the quaint alleyways of The Shambles, take a river Ouse cruise, shop until you drop or sit and relax and find somewhere to have a delicious lunch, the choice is yours.
Thursday
Today following a leisurely start with time to relax at the hotel, join the coach at 11.00hrs as we head to the Yorkshire coast to step back in time on a visit to the Scarborough Fair Collection and Vintage Transport Museum, one of the largest indoor attractions in the area. Take a trip down memory Lane as you discover fairground rides, fairground and dance organs, vintage vehicles including charabancs, buses, cars, motorbikes and magnificent traction engines all lovingly restored, try your luck on the Penny Arcade, watch or take part in a Wurlitzer Tea Dance in the stunning ballroom, watch or take to the dancefloor to the tune of favourite melodies from different eras, a great day out at this award-winning attraction.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following a leisurely breakfast, before heading home we head back into York for free time to visit those attractions that you may not have had time for, allowing time to obtain lunch, departing York at 14.00hrs to continue our journey home.
