September trips to Italy are magical and sun-soaked, ideal for al fresco dining, amazing sunrises and sunsets, lounging on the beach and lazy lakeside walks. This wonderful region offers contrasting landscapes, rolling hills and vineyards to the south with steep mountains and olive groves in the north. Enjoy wonderful Italian hospitality in our 4-star hotel located in the centre of Riva del Garda, directly on one of its largest squares. To the north of the lake are the Dolomites, a comparatively undiscovered area of the Brenta Nature Park with many quiet artist towns and an unspoilt landscape, peppered with small lakes. To the south east of the lake is Verona, a magnificent city of World repute, the historic City of Love with a two hour guided walking tour to enhance your visit. Make memories on this wonderful Italian late summer adventure.
ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is not currently operational. Introduction has been delayed and now looking to be operational during the 2nd quarter of 2025 (looking like May 2025), the only travel documents customers need if they are travelling to the EU before this time will be valid passport not more than 10 years old with at least 3 months remaining on the return date.
Cost of the ETIAS will be 7 euros and can be done online, customers will need an email address, there passport and a debit credit card to hand when they make their application, please allow at least 96 hrs before date of travel to apply, the ETIAS is valid for 3 years or until the passport renews whichever comes first.
For customers who are local Ava Travel will be able to assist and complete the ETIAS registration face to face, the cost will be £16.00 which will include the ETIAS registration and cover staff and admin costs.

Itinerary
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 05.30am for our journey to Dover to board the 2.25pm DFDS ferry to Calais with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Enjoy a meal onboard to replace our evening meal at the hotel today as it will be a late arrival in Metz.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following a leisurely breakfast to continue our journey to Italy, admiring the beautiful views along the way. Arrive at Hotel Portici to a warm Italian welcome with a drink while your luggage is taken to your room. This evening enjoys a set 3-course dinner.
Tuesday
Today we enjoy the freedom of Rival Del Garda with a day of leisure to explore, perhaps take a boat ride, hire a bike, relax in a pavement café and watch the world go by, visit the harbour or shop in the wonderful boutiques in the vicinity of the hotel.
Wednesday
Today following breakfast, we take a lakeside journey to visit the beautiful lakeside resort of Torbole, the picturesque town of Malcesine, which is dominated by its imposing castle and the small historic town of Sirmione located on the tip of a long peninsula protruding from the southern shore of the lake.
Thursday
Today following breakfast to travel to visit Verona, the wonderful; historic city famed as the setting for Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' and renowned for its Roman Amphitheatre. With such a rich history we have added a two-hour walking tour with a knowledgeable guide to enhance our visit, followed by free time to explore.
Friday
Following breakfast today's excursion is to the breath-taking Valley of The Lakes and Brenta Nature Park to include visits to Canale di Tenno, the magical, medieval village between the lake and the Alps, Comano Terme, famous for its thermal baths and clean mountain air and Lake Toblino considered one of the most romantic lakes in Trentino. With an afternoon stop in Trento.
Saturday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, sadly it's time to bid farewell to our Italian hosts and beautiful Italy. Relax and enjoy the Alpine views as we travel back to Metz for our overnight stay, arriving in time for dinner.
Sunday
Check out of our overnight hotel following breakfast to commence our journey home, travel to Calais, with a suitable lunch stop en-route, board the ferry for a short crossing to Dover where we will re-join the coach to disembark, continue our journey home with a suitable meal stop en-route.
