Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 06.00am for our journey to Fishguard to board the afternoon ferry to County Wexford with suitable comfort and meal stops en-route, disembark in Rosslare, re-join the coach to continue our short journey to the Riverside Park Hotel. Arriving late afternoon receive a warm Irish welcome while your case is taken to your room, enjoy a little time to relax before the evening meal.
Tuesday
Today's excursion takes us west to the medieval town of Kilkenny allowing free time to explore and obtain lunch. Perhaps visit Kilkenny Castle or Smithwick's, still brewing beer using 18th century methods or one of Kilkenny's craft shops selling pottery, paintings, knitwear and jewellery, perfect for a souvenir of your trip. In the afternoon travel to Altamont Gardens designed by famous Irish gardener William Robinson, these enchanting gardens are often referred to as 'the jewel in Ireland's gardening crown'.
Wednesday
Today is a day of leisure. Enjoy Enniscorthy, the second largest town in the heart of County Wexford, perfectly located on the picturesque River Slaney under the gaze of Vinegar Hill. Our hotel location gives easy access to the town's attractions, perhaps take a promenade stroll by the river one of the Wexford Walking Trails, visit The National 1798 Rebellion Centre to learn more of Vinegar Hill or explore Enniscorthy Castle, enjoy some retail therapy in the town's shops or book a table at 'The Bailey', National 'Best Food Pub' award winner for 2024, family owned in the centre of the town.
Thursday
Following breakfast our journey takes us to Waterford, Ireland's oldest city. Experience 1,000 years of history in 1,000 steps, wander historic streets lined with quirky shops and enjoy the wonderful foodie scene said to be unrivalled in Ireland, we include a guided tour of the House of Waterford Crystal, discover aspects of the crystal manufacturing process from molten crystal being blown through to skilled craftsmen engraving designs. Later continue our journey to the coast, travelling the short distance to the traditional seaside port of Tramore, enjoy time to explore the port, perhaps visit the Japanese Gardens or enjoy a stroll along the beachfront promenade to enjoy the views.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, today we are sailing back to the UK from Dublin, our journey will take us along the coast with the sea on one side and the beautiful Wicklow mountains on the other. Make a stop in Wicklow Town, capital town of County Wicklow with time to explore and obtain lunch, perhaps explore the harbour overlooked by the Black Castle ruins, take a stroll along the piers to enjoy beautiful views of the town and coastline. Re-join the coach to continue our journey to Dublin Port, board the ferry to Holyhead and continue our journey home.
