Includes a visit to The National Memorial Arboretum, the magnificent living memorial that recognize service and sacrifice, a beautiful place to quietly contemplate amongst a woodland landscape with a collection of around 400 memorials waiting to be discovered and a scenic journey through the Peak District National Park with a stop in Buxton on our travelling days. Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.30hrs for our journey to Grantham with a lunch stop at the National Memorial Arboretum en-route. Arrive at the hotel to a warm welcome with tea/coffee and mince pies while your case is taken to your room. This evening dinner is followed by a festive quiz with prizes.
Tuesday (Christmas Day)
Merry Christmas! Following breakfast visit the bustling market town of Stamford, proclaimed by Sir Walter Scott as the 'finest stone town in England' now a conservation area with over 600 listed buildings including five medieval churches with quaint streets, with time to explore and obtain lunch before travelling to Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, spend the afternoon in the home of Pork Pies and Stilton cheese. Tonight, we enjoy a traditional Christmas Dinner with crackers and the trimmings followed by live entertainment.
Wednesday (New Years Eve)
Today's excursion takes us on a scenic drive through the Lincolnshire Wolds to visit to the unique Georgian town of Louth. This wonderful 'Foodie Mecca' is a great place to explore and obtain lunch. Today is market day in the town, wander stalls selling local produce and gifts. This evening enjoy a 'New Years Eve' dinner followed by live entertainment with Auld Lang Syne at 23.00hrs and a glass of fizz.
Thursday
Morning to relax at the hotel and enjoy the facilities, join the coach at 12.00hrs for an afternoon visit to historic Grantham in Lincolnshire, filled with heritage, famous for gingerbread biscuits and being the birthplace of Isaac Newton and former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, allowing time to explore and obtain lunch before returning to the hotel at 15.00hrs. This evening following dinner we have Bingo with prizes.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home travelling via the scenic Peak District with a lunch stop in Buxton en-route.
