Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey to the Barn Hotel and Spa via the scenic Peak District with a lunch stop in Buxton en-route with time to explore and obtain lunch. Depart Buxton at 14.000hrs to continue our journey to the hotel, arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday - Thursday
Today's excursion takes us to Rutland, England's smallest county to board the Rutland Belle. Cruise the stunning Rutland Water reservoir, a haven for waterbirds with commentary to highlight points of interest. We will also visit Oakham, the picturesque Rutland market town that's packed with heritage.
Today takes us to magnificent Burghley House and Gardens, wander Tudor interiors of gilded staterooms filled with sumptuous decoration, glamorous furniture, Old Masters and intricate plaster ceilings, visit the old kitchen with vaulted ceiling and shining copper pans, stand in awe in the Bow Room, and journey through beautiful bedrooms, billiard rooms chapel and much more. Outside the gardens are busting with life featuring imaginative planting, sculptures and surprises that are sure to delight. Includes a guided house tour. This afternoon we visit historic Stamford, the fine stone town with over 600 listed buildings and 5 medieval churches, experience Stamford's charm, character and outstanding shopping and foodie scene.
Our excursion today takes us to Lincoln, the historic county town of Lincolnshire with free time to explore and obtain lunch, perhaps visit the castle or the cathedral before departing at 13.00hrs, this afternoon visit Easton Walled Gardens, discover the pretty 400-year-old gardens, one of the finest walled gardens in the UK set in the heart of middle England's scenic countryside.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following a leisurely breakfast for the return journey home with a lunch stop at Trentham Shopping Village en-route with time to explore and obtain lunch before departing at Trentham at 14.30hrs to continue our journey home.
