Lovely Ludlow & Victorian Shropshire

Itinerary:

Sunday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to the historic Feathers Hotel in Ludlow with a lunch stop at RAF Cosford en-route with time to explore. Depart RAF Cosford at 14.30hrs to continue the journey to the Feathers Hotel where you will receive a warm welcome with tea/coffee on arrival while your bag is taken to your room.

Monday
Free day in Ludlow on market day with time to explore, allowing time for lunch, perhaps treat yourself and book an afternoon tea at The Feathers or something lovely from the tea-rooms, or maybe visit the castle, the museum, St Laurence's Church or the wonderful eclectic mix of shops, cafes and inns.

Tuesday
Following breakfast join the coach to journey through Shropshire to The Black Country. Step back in time and experience the Black Country of yesteryear as you explore over 250 years of history, from the Industrial Revolution to post-war prosperity, through living interpretation. Explore over 80 reconstructed shops, houses and industrial workshops, and meet historic characters who bring history to life with demonstrations in authentic settings. (replacement for Blist Hill Museum)

Wednesday
Following breakfast we travel to visit historic Shrewsbury. Nestled beside the winding River Severn, Shrewsbury invites you with its medieval charm and colourful history. This picturesque town is a paradise for history enthusiasts, culture and food lovers, where every cobblestone street tells a captivating story. Perhaps take a stroll along the river or join Sabrina Boat to view the town from the water, or explore life behind bars at Shrewsbury Victorian Prison, today the choice is yours. Depart Shrewsbury at 14.00hrs, head back towards the hotel with a stop in Ironbridge Village on the return. Depart Ironbridge Village at 16.00hrs. (Shrewsbury was originally on the return day, we now have longer to fully appreciate this beautiful, historic city bursting with attractions, shopping opportunities and a wonderful foodie scene + we will have a stop in Ironbridge Village on the return.).

Wednesday
This morning we step back in time on a visit to the Black Country Museum

Thursday
Today we bid farewell to our hosts at The Feathers, check out of our hotel following breakfast but our holiday isn't over yet. Board the coach to Kidderminster where we join in the fun of Seven Valley Railway's 50th Anniversary Spring Steam Gala. With the freedom of the line and an increased timetable take the opportunity to journey on guest and home-fleet locomotives for a great day out between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. Sit back, relax and enjoy pretty Shropshire from wonderful heritage carriages as you're transported past picturesque country stations along the scenic route. With free time to enjoy the best of Kidderminster and Bridgnorth if you wish, allowing time for lunch. Coach will depart Kidderminster at 15.30hrs to continue our journey home. (Change of day for Seven Valley Railway, now an enhanced attraction offering freedom of the line to journey on guest and home-fleet steam locomotives with all the heritage fun that a Gala brings).
