Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 11.00hrs for our journey to the outskirts of Bowness with a lunch stop in Cartmel en-route, enjoy time to explore and obtain lunch in the picturesque South Lakeland Village, home to a wide variety of Lakeland Inns, pretty tea rooms and high-end gourmet restaurants, and of course its famous Sticky Toffee Pudding. Depart Cartmel at 14.30hrs to continue to the hotel.
Tuesday
Today we head to Ullswater to enjoy a cruise on its crystal-clear waters. Board a steamer like many before during the last 160 years. Ullswater is one of England's most beautiful lakes offering iconic mountain views from a truly unique perspective and views of Wordsworth's daffodils on the west shore in spring. We will also visit the market town of Keswick surrounded by spectacular lake & mountain scenery.
Wednesday
Today we experience Lake Windermere from the water on a scenic, sightseeing cruise. Enter the world of the famous children's author, Beatrix Potter and we also enjoy an afternoon tea.
Thursday
Today enjoys a beautifully scenic, return journey on the iconic Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, one of the oldest and longest narrow-gauge railways in England, known affectionately as La'al Ratty meaning little railway in olde Cumbrian dialect. Travel from Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park, across the estuary, through the hills, past seven request stops with a 1:40 gradient at times, en route to our destination some seven miles up the line to Dalegarth for Boot Station and back. Today we also visit the popular market town of Ambleside on the Northern end of Windermere, surrounded by majestic Lakeland fells.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home, before heading back we spend free time in Bowness on Windermere with time to explore and obtain lunch. Depart at 14.30hrs to continue our journey home.
