About the hotel The imposing sandstone Glenburn Hotel is set in a prime position, atop terraced gardens, commanding spectacular view across Rothesay Bay and the Cowal Peninsula. The grand and elegant 3-star hotel on the Isle of Bute was built in 1892 as a hydrotherapy retreat for the Victorians. Enjoy a relaxing drink in the welcoming bar or take in the spectacular views from the hotels terrace. Elegant guest bedrooms are sympathetically decorated and furnished, offering a wonderful haven to relax in following a busy day exploring. Important Note: Accessibility at the hotel the hotel does have a lift that serves all the bedrooms, we have been advised however that due to the hotels historic nature of the building guests will encounter steps/small flights of stairs (e.g max 6 steps) along the corridors. There are a number of step-in showers which are not guaranteed and are on a request only basis, the majority of bedrooms have shower over bath. The Glenburn does not have any bedrooms on the ground floor. Please note, until further notice the main entrance to the hotel is through a side door where there are 14 stone steps with a handrail down the middle of the flight but no rails to the side. There is no ramp access and no alternative access leading to the hotel entrance, this could prove challenging for those with walking difficulties and is not suitable for wheelchairs. |
