Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00am for our journey to Woodbridge in Suffolk with a lunch stop in St Ives, Cambridgeshire en-route. Arrive at the hotel to a warm Suffolk welcome with tea/coffee to enjoy while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday - Thursday
Today's excursion allows us to sit back and relax as we take leisurely Oulton Broad cruise, this 90 minute River Waveney Marshland cruise is a delightful cruise taking us along the Norfolk/Suffolk border, travel through the grazing marshlands on the Angles Way taking in the waterside village of Burgh St Peter, followed by a visit to spend free time in Woodbridge allowing time to explore and obtain lunch in the beautiful market town that boasts an iconic quayside, famous watermill, and brewery before heading back to the hotel for time at leisure.
Today's excursion takes us on a guided tour of some of the finest historic towns and villages of Suffolk with a guide joining us for the day onboard the coach. The tour visits Sudbury, the historic town famous for its wool and silk industries and the famous artist Thomas Gainsborough, Bury St Edmunds - the Jewel in the Crown of Suffolk, Stradishall - a small pretty village of thatched and picturesque cottages, Clare - Suffolks smallest town in the beautiful countryside of Suffolks Upper Stour Valley, Cavendish- one of Suffolks prettiest quintessential English villages with thatched cottages and village green, Long Melford - a village of rich heritage and scenic countryside also the main filming location for the TV series Lovejoy, and Lavenham - one of the most important and best-preserved medieval villages in England allowing you time to obtain lunch along the way. Later in the afternoon we visit Lavenham Guildhall one of the most spectacular timber-framed buildings of Medieval England right in the heart of Village life. The Guildhall of Corpus Christi tells the story of one of the best-preserved and wealthiest towns of Tudor England.
Today's drive takes us into the rural north to visit the time-warp seaside town of Aldeburgh with its pretty Blue Flag shingle beach, the town is world renowned for its connections with Bengamin Britten and its shipbuilders creating famous vessels including Sir Francis Drake's The Golden Hind, continue to the historic, picturesque little gem of a seaside resort, Southwold, with its huge lighthouse and pier allowing time to explore and obtain lunch. Return to the hotel mid-afternoon for time at leisure.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a lunch stop in Coventry en-route.
