Itinerary:
Thursday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to Ullesthorpe Court with a lunch stop in Litchfield en-route, with time to explore and obtain lunch. Depart Litchfield at 14.00hrs to continue our journey to the hotel. Arrive to a warm welcome while your case is taken to your room.
Friday
This morning's excursion takes us to visit the famous Barnsdale Gardens familiar to many TV viewers as the home of Gardeners World this beautiful 8-acre garden is spit into 27 individual gardens. Following our visit head to Melton Mowbray. A town with royal heritage dating to Richard the Lionheart, home of Stilton, Red Leicester and of course the iconic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie. Perhaps visit the Melton Carnegie Museum to see an original pie oven, grab a pie at Ye Old Pork Pie Shoppe or visit the Anne of Cleves Pub.
Saturday
This morning's excursion takes us to Coventry, a city with a quirky creative quarter and chock-loads of medieval history, history and heritage unfolds across iconic landmarks and attractions that are must-sees for any visitor. Perhaps explore the hauntingly romantic ruins of Coventry Cathedral, a historic reminder of the bombings of WWII sitting alongside the modern re-imagining New Cathedral, a symbolic masterpiece risen from the ashes. Enjoy some retail therapy on Coventry High Street or visit Coventry Transport Museum. This afternoon we enjoy a guided tour of St Mary's Guildhall followed by a delicious cream tea. This newly restored visitor attraction allows us to explore the Guildhall's history of partying, power and propaganda. The site displays one of the oldest preserved medieval kitchens in England. In the Great Hall view the famous Coventry Tapestry, which still hangs in its original spot after 500 years.
Sunday
Today we make the short journey to Warwick with entrance included to the spectacular Warwick Castle built by William the Conqueror in 1065. Experience over 1,100 years of history filled with great battles, ancient myths, spellbinding tales, pampered princesses, heroic knights and much more. This afternoon we visit Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon allowing time to explore and obtain lunch before enjoying a 45-minute cruise along the River Avon to take in the sights with historic commentary.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum en-route with time to explore and obtain lunch, depart the NMA at 14.00hrs to continue our journey home.
