Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey to Holyhead with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Board the early afternoon Irish Ferries crossing to Dublin, disembark and continue our journey to the County Arms in Birr arriving to a warm Irish welcome, relax with a welcome tea/coffee as your bags are taken to your room.
Tuesday
Following a leisurely breakfast depart Birr at 10.30hrs, today we visit the colourful, historic riverside town of Athlone in Co Westmeath. Discover an interesting mix of ancient history, bohemian cafes, traditional pubs and incredible landscapes on the River Shannon with time to explore and obtain lunch. Athlone celebrates with a Croí na hÉireann Festival over several days. Today there is a Eucharistic Procession from St Mary's Church at 15.00hrs to mark the Eve of St Patricks Day, throughout the day there will be live music and entertainment throughout bars, the Deane Theatre and the town centre, celebrating Irish culture with music and dance. Depart Athlone at 17.00hrs to return to the hotel.
Wednesday
La fheile Padraig sona ahuit or Happy St. Patricks Day - following breakfast join the coach as we journey to Tullamore to join in the St Patricks Day celebrations. Experience a traditional Irish celebration where community come together to celebrate Irish heritage with a wonderful St Patricks Day parade.
Thursday
Free day today to relax, enjoy the hotels leisure facilities, wander the beautiful grounds and explore historic Birr. Join us for an Irish coffee making demo and a delicious afternoon tea at the hotel today.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, travel to Dublin where we board the afternoon ferry for our journey to Holyhead, if time allows there will be a little free time in Dublin before we head for the ferry. Re-join the coach in Holyhead as we continue our journey home.
