Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey to Dundee with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Arrive at the hotel to a warm welcome while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday
Today, enjoy a free day to relax and explore at your own pace your host city Dundee, the UNESCO Creative City of Design, a dynamic and compact city that offers a wealth of history and attractions for its visitors. Perhaps visit Discovery Point or board Captain Scott's ship RRS Discovery, explore the wonderful Verdant Works or the V&A Museum of Design. If shopping is your thing Dundee won't disappoint from the bespoke to the unique, Dundee has a wealth of independent shops and foodie treats and you may even spot Desperate Dan along the way. Today the choice is yours.
Wednesday
Following breakfast our excursion takes us to the city of Perth with a visit to Perth Museum. The highlight of the museum collection is the recently returned Stone of Scone, known as the Stone of Destiny, used to crown kings and queens since the 9th century and featured in the coronation of King Charles III. Enjoy a guided tour and discover its heritage and significance in UK history. In the afternoon travel the short distance to Scone Palace to uncover its exciting and colourful history as one of Scotland's most important stately homes, from the seat of parliament to the crowning place of Scottish kings, including Robert the Bruce. The palace houses an outstanding collection of antiques, paintings and rare artefacts with grounds that are renowned throughout the world.
Thursday
Today we enjoy a morning visit to Glamis Castle, one of the finest castles in Scotland. This former home of Princess Margaret was also the setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth. We have a tour of the historic castle and time to soak up the magnificent beauty of the gardens. Following our visit, we head to Peel Farm café, a 3rd generation, family-run business using locally sourced produce to create tasty home-baked products. Enjoy a mini afternoon tea of tea/coffee, small sandwiches, savoury pastries and fresh scones. On site there is also a farm shop showcasing local produce and an accessible farm trail where you can meet a variety of farm animals.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast and bid farewell to our hosts. Commence the journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
