Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey to the 4-star Moorland Hotel in Dartmoor National Park with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room.
Tuesday
Today we enjoy a return journey on the South Devon Steam Railway from Buckfastleigh through beautiful Devon countryside. Later enjoy a visit to the Buckfast Otter Sanctuary and Butterfly Farm, meet the resident otters and discover the wildlife conservation work of the sanctuary. Explore the Butterfly House, a specially designed and maintained exhibition of living exotic butterflies and moths, where visitors can enjoy direct contact with some of the most beautiful members of the insect order.
Wednesday
Enjoy time at leisure today to relax at the hotel and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Dartmoor National Park. Today we include a visit to Buckfast Abbey, home to a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine Monks located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Explore the splendid building of the Abbey Church, wander beautiful, themed gardens filled with scented seasonal blooms in this wonderful place of peace and tranquillity. Take time to visit the gift shop, perhaps visit the fabulous Monastic Way Exhibition (entrance not included) or sit and relax on the outdoor terrace with a light bite.
Thursday
Today's excursion is a guided tour of Dartmoor National Park. A knowledgeable local guide will join us on the coach with entertaining commentary throughout. Discover Dartmoor's secrets with tales of myth and legend as we journey through the natural beauty of the moor on this wonderful day out.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, bidding farewell to our hosts and the beauty of Dartmoor. Commence our journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
