Twixmas In Nottingham

Itinerary:

Sunday
Depart Leyland at 09.00hrs for our journey to Nottingham with a suitable lunch stop at the National Memorial Arboretum en-route, depart the NMA at 14.00hrs to continue our journey to the hotel, arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room with time to relax and perhaps use the leisure facilities before our evening meal.

Monday
Following a leisurely breakfast and a little time to relax at the hotel and perhaps use the leisure facilities join the coach at 11.00 for our journey into Nottingham, allowing time to explore, shop and obtain lunch. Re-join the coach at 15.00hrs to return to the hotel.

Tuesday
Today we take a scenic journey to Sherwood Forest, the area is still alive with Robin Hood, Maid Marian and the Merry Men and the tales that surround them, outwitting the law, helping the poor and using the forest as their home, hunting ground and hiding place. On route to Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre we make a stop in the historic village of Edwinstowe, perhaps visit the beautiful medieval church of St Mary, where legend has it, Robin and Marian were wed, explore this vibrant and busy village with a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs continuing later to the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre. Perhaps walk to the Major Oak, probably the most famous resident in Sherwood Forest, after Robin Hood of course, or enjoy your surroundings and relax in the café, the views of the forest edge are stunning, there's a gift shop on site too.

Wednesday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast to commence our journey home but before we do we head to Southwell one of the prettiest towns in Nottinghamshire, see the stunning minster with one of the finest Norman naves in all of Europe, a stone's throw from the narrow high street and historic pubs, with time to obtain lunch, re-join the coach at 13.30hrs to continue our journey home through the beautiful Peak District National Park via Buxton.
