Itinerary:
Monday
Depart Leyland at 10.00hrs for our journey to Thoresby Hall with a lunch stop at the Mill Outlet Batley en-route, allowing time to explore and obtain lunch.
Tuesday
Today's excursion takes us to the Gateway to Sherwood Forest and the historic village of Edwinstowe, the legendary home of Robin hood, home to the beautiful church of St Mary where it is said that Robin Hood married Maid Marian. The vibrant and busy village has a variety of shops, craft centre, restaurants and pubs and the High Street is complete with a statue of Robin and Marian, following time to explore and obtain lunch continue our journey to the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, relax, shop, enjoy the views from the café or head out on one of the trails into the forest, perhaps take the path to the Major Oak where legend has it Robin Hood and his Merry Men hid from the Sheriff of Nottingham. Return to the hotel mid-afternoon.
Wednesday
Day of leisure at Thoresby Hall, relax and enjoy the grounds, leisure facilities and activities.
Thursday
Morning visit to Nottingham home of legends and lace with free time to explore and obtain lunch, the compact city is easy to navigate and largely pedestrianised. Carved into the craggy rock below the imposing castle you'll find Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem said to be England's oldest inn at 800 years old. There are great shopping opportunities from High Street favourites to Victorian Arcades. The foodie scene here is mouthwatering with restaurant, pubs and cosy cafes offering a huge array of treats to suit every palate and pocket. Re-join the coach at 14.00hrs for our return to Thoresby Hall, enjoy an afternoon to relax, join in an activity or perhaps book yourself an afternoon tea (not included in the cost of the holiday).
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our journey home travelling via the scenic Peak District with a lunch stop in Buxton en-route.
