Join us as we head to mainland Orkney for our Seascapes and Neolithic Orkney Tour.  Enjoy breathtaking views as we sail from mainland Scotland to dock in Stromness on Orkney Main Island, as we pull into the port the warm twinkling lights of the harbour welcome us. From Stromness travel over the mouth of the Stenness Loch, one of the largest sea lochs on Orkneys main island as it outflows into The Bay of Ireland and Scapa Flow beyond, cross the Brig o’Waithe arches to continue our journey arriving at our destination in Kirkwall.  During our tour we have included a full day tour of Orkney with the services of a local guide to enhance this already wonderful tour, visit some of the best examples of rich Neolithic sites with stops at the Standing Stones of Stenness and Ring of Brodgar before continuing to the highlight, Skara Brae, built over 5000 years ago, this pre-historic village pre-dates Stonehenge. We also include a visit to one of Orkney’s most loved attractions, the Italian Chapel built by Italian POW’s, a beautiful reminder of peace and hope. Spend free time exploring Kirkwall, the Orkney Island capital, rich in history with a Viking heart. Sunday
Depart Leyland at 10.00am for our journey to Scotland and our overnight hotel in Pitlochry with a suitable lunch stop en-route.

Monday
Check out of our overnight hotel following breakfast, journey to Inverness where we will enjoy a couple of hours exploring with time to obtain lunch, continue our journey to Scrabster where we will board the evening Northlink Ferry to Stromness on the shore of Hamvanoe, an inlet of Scapa Flow, be welcomed by the twinkling lights of the harbour as the ferry pulls in. Travel over the mouth of the Strenness Loch, one of the largest sea lochs on Orkneys main island as it outflows in to the Bay of Ireland and Scapa Flow beyond. Cross the Brig o'waithe arches to continue our Orkney journey arriving at our destination in Kirkwall on the Orkney mainland, our home for the next 3 nights. Take in the wonderful views from the hotel while your luggage is taken to your room.

Tuesday
This morning following breakfast we meet our local guide who will join us on the coach for a full day excursion of Orkney. Begin with a visit to one of Orkneys most loved attractions, The Italian Chapel on Lamb Holm, constructed by Italian Prisoners of War who were transported to Orkney to build the Churchill Barriers, amongst the prisoners in camp 60 was an artist Domenico Chiocchetti, he was given the task of transforming two Nissen huts, with the help of other prisoners into a chapel, their work can be seen here today as a lasting reminder of peace and hope. The Orkney's are rich with Neolithic sites across the islands, stops are made at the impressive Standing Stones of Stenness and Ring of Brodgar, before continuing to the highlight, Skara Brae. Built over 5000 years ago, this pre-historic village pre-dates Stonehenge.

Wednesday
Today you have a day of leisure to explore Kirkwall's many museums and art galleries as well as the busy harbour. Close by the hotel is the Orkney Distillery and Visitor Centre with the main shopping area located just behind. Perhaps visit the imposing St Magnus Cathedral which has been a place of worship on the island for over 8 centuries. Enjoy the Orkney Island capital with its busy historic centre brimming with character.

Thursday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast as we bid farewell to mainland Orkney and take the scenic journey as we travel across the causeways of the archipelago to St Margaret's Hope the most picturesque village in the archipelago. This wonderful journey takes us across iconic causeways through the small Orkney Islands of Lamb Holm and Glimps Holm, Burray and South Ronaldsay encompassing the Churchill Barriers. Board the ferry to Gill's Bay on the Scottish mainland and continue our journey to our overnight hotel in Newtonmore.
