Spend the holidays in the beautiful 4-star Cambridge Belfy Hotel with lake views and wonderful festive fayre and entertainment. During our stay we will visit Ely or the ‘Ship of the Fens’, one of England’s smallest cities, once home to Oliver Cromwell. Its skyline is dominated by the magnificent Cathedral, widely acknowledged as ‘one of the wonders of the Medieval world’. Visit Cambridge, the county town and university city, spend free time exploring this wonderful city with its historic core and cobbled streets, perhaps see the magnificent Corpus Clock at Corpus Christi College or wander the wonderful historic area of Kings Parade with its breath-taking architecture. If its shopping you’re after Cambridge won’t disappoint, grab yourself a bargain in the Boxing Day sales with an abundance of independent and high street retailers along with a delicious choice of places to eat and drink. Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 09:30am for the journey to Cambridge with a suitable lunch stop en-route, arrive to a warm welcome with tea/coffee and mince pies while our luggage is taken care of. Why not relax and take a dip in the pool before joining us for dinner.
Tuesday (Christmas Eve)
Following breakfast today's excursion takes us to Ely, one of England's smallest cities, take in the stunning cathedral (used as a filming location in The Crown, it stood in for Westminster Abbey for the wedding of the Queen and Prince Philip), embrace its 17th century atmosphere and rich history. Arrive back at the hotel early afternoon, with time to relax and enjoy the leisure facilities. This evening we enjoy a 3-course dinner and entertainment. For those wishing to attend midnight mass details of nearby church services will be available from reception, there will be tea/coffee and mince pies waiting for you on your return.
Wednesday (Christmas Day)
Merry Christmas to all our Avatravellers! Enjoy a day of leisure today with a leisurely breakfast, this afternoon enjoy a welcome glass of fizz followed by a traditional plated Christmas Day Lunch with tea/coffee and Christmas cake served during the King's speech. This evening's meal, if you have room, is a relaxed affair offering casual grazing boards and some festive themed fun.
Thursday (Boxing Day)
After a leisurely breakfast join the coach for a visit to the historic city of Cambridge allowing time to explore and have lunch. Return to the hotel early afternoon to relax and make use of the hotel's leisure facilities, this evening join us for a 3-course dinner.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route
