Cruise Canal & Loch, with castle views as you follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria, experience a breathtaking journey that takes you along Thomas Telford’s famous Caledonian Canal and, across the legendary waters of Loch Ness. Marvel at the stunning scenery of the Great Glen, and panoramic views of Aldourie Castle, Bona Lighthouse and the spectacular Urquhart Castle. Step back in time as you experience life in the Highlands from 1700’s to the 1950’s as we explore the Highland Folk Museum. IMPORTANT NOTE added 15/02/2024:
We have been advised that the Funicular on the Cairngorms Railway is not operational at the moment and is unlikely to be up and running again before the end of April/beginning of May, as a replacement they have offered us a short, guided walk to the Mountain Garden with tea/coffee and tray of bakes however we feel although lovely, may be too stenuous for some of our passengers. We have booked a visit to Cawdor Castle and Gardens as a replacement attraction instead of the Cairngorms Mountain Railway, all customers already booked on the tour will be notified by letter of the change.
Itinerary
Monday:
Depart from Leyland at 8am for our journey to Nethy Bridge in Scotland with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
Tuesday
Half Day - This morning following breakfast we visit Cawdor Caste and Gardens, return to the hotel in the afternoon for free time.
Wednesday
Full Day - This morning following brerakfast join the coach for a visit to the Highland Fol Museum, in the afternoon re-join the coach as we travel to Aviemore we join the Strathspey Railway for a scenic rail journey at 15.00hrs.
Thursday
Full day - Following breakfast we visit Inverness with time to explore and obtain lunch, mid afternoon will be heading to Dochgarroch to board a boat cruise along the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness at 14.45hrs
Friday:
Following breakfast we will depart from the hotel for our return journey, with a suitable stop en-route.
