The compact city centre is an ideal detination for relaxed strolls, sightseeing and shopping. Hockley and the Lace Market are the oldest areas of the city and can be found in the Creative Quarter, now a protected heritage area, once the heart of Britain's lace industry, the red bricked buildings now house shops, restaurants, boutiques and yes, lace makers. Perhaps visit the castle which has recenltly undergone a £30m transformation.
