Itinerary
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 09.30am for our journey to Tring in Buckinghamshire with a lunch stop at the National Memorial Arboretum en-route.
Monday - Wednesday
Time at leisure to enjoy Pendley Manor, grounds and leisure facilities with the following excursions:
Full day - Following breakfast we spend the morning in Tring, allowing time to explore and obtain lunch, in the afternoon take a scenic journey via the Chilterns to visit the Chilterns Open Air Museum located in Chalfont St Giles, set within beautiful rolling countryside. Discover the wonderful home to 30 rescued, historic buildings including a 1940's prefab, WW1 & WWII Nissen huts, blacksmiths forge, Victorian Tollhouse, working historic farm and much more along with wonderful gardens to explore. A popular venue for filming appearing in episodes of Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, Midsomer Murders, Grantchester and many more. Re-join the coach to continue our scenic journey through the Chilterns, returning via Wendover.
Half day - Following breakfast join the coach as we visit Waddesdon Manor, the glorious faux French Chateau built for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the late 19th century, wander through gilded rooms filled with royal treasures and objects with an exceptional story to tell. Explore the gardens to discover Rothschild's vision, an exceptional example of Victorian horticulture including formal gardens, water garden, and aviary garden. April is a special time to visit with Spring bedding starting to bloom, tulip season begins, and Daffodil Valley and the Upper Deer pen filled with daffodils.
Half day - Following breakfast join the coach as we visit Aylesbury, the county town of Buckinghamshire, probably best known for producing the tastiest duck in the 19th century. Today is market day. The towns old quarter offers history and heritage, take time to explore and obtain lunch before returning to the hotel for time at leisure.
Thursday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a lunch stop at RAF Cosford en-route.
