Itinerary
Thursday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire with a lunch stop at the National Memorial Arboretum en-route, arrive at the hotel to welcome tea/coffee while your case is taken to your room.
Friday
This morning, we journey to Cambridge where we board a chauffeured punt through the backwaters of Cambridge. Our guide will not only guide the punt along the River Cam but will also point out the highlights of the magnificent college buildings of Cambridge. To complement this quintessentially English scene, strawberries and cream will be served as you glide by the colleges. Followed by free time to explore the wonderful city of Cambridge before travelling back to the hotel mid-afternoon to relax and enjoy the leisure facilities.
Saturday
Today's excursion begins with a drive to Newmarket, home of horseracing. Enjoy a visit to the wonderful National Horseracing Heritage Centre to discover all about the history of the 'Sport of Kings'. Following our visit we head to the Ely, the compact and picture-perfect city gem, home to the magnificent Ely Cathedral, known as the 'Ship of the Fens', perhaps pay a visit or enjoy the wonderful array of medieval buildings and narrow streets waiting to be discovered.
Sunday
Following a leisurely breakfast, we travel South to visit the Roman city of St Albans. At its historic core you will find the stunning cathedral dating back to 1077. The city offers history with every footstep, a pub at every turn and beautiful places to simply just stop and soak up the beauty. This afternoon we re-join the coach as we travel to the RAF Museum in Hendon. With over 85 aircraft on site, this museum allows you to get up close to many historic and groundbreaking aircraft and learn of their important roles throughout history.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
