Book NowJoin us as we head to historic Alnwick for our Long Weekend in Northumbria tour taking you on a journey through splendid contrasting scenery of rugged coastline and rolling countryside dotted with quaint northern villages and historic towns. Follow in the steps of Pilgrims as we cross the causeway to visit the mysterious tidal island, the spiritual and scenic destination of Lindisfarne or Holy Island once home to the spiritual healer St Cuthbert where a wealth of history awaits to be discovered within its tidal walls. The ancient kingdom of Northumbria offers some of the most striking unspoilt beauty in England. Spend free time in Alnwick on market day, perhaps visit one of its traditional cosy cafes and inns or visit Barter Books, one of the largest bookshops in Europe, a wonderful literary heaven housed in Alnwick’s grand Victorian railway station. Don’t miss out on this tour to unspoilt Northumbria, a little treat to get you though the winter months.

Friday
Depart Leyland at 09.00am for our journey to Alnwick with a lunch stop in historic Hexham en-route. Tonight's hotel entertainment after dinner will be a quiz or Bingo.
Saturday
Free day in Alnwick to explore and enjoy leisure time at the hotel, today is market day in Alnwick perhaps visit one of the many cafes, inns and restaurants for a cosy lunch or afternoon tea, for something a bit different visit the quirky 5-star attraction Barter Books, one of the largest second-hand bookshops in Europe housed in Alnwick's grand Victorian railway station, home to the original 'Keep Calm and Carry On' poster now famous worldwide and the model railway linking the book columns of the central room together with poetry lines. In winter there is a wonderful ambience, find a cosy nook beside a roaring fire in this literary heaven. The Station Buffet here offers good plain food along with tea/coffee and cookies. Tonight's hotel entertainment after dinner will be a quiz or Bingo.
Sunday
Today's excursion takes us to the north of Northumberland across the causeway to Holy Island home to the mysterious Lindisfarne castle and priory, on the return make stops in Bamburgh and Seahouses for free time to explore. Before dinner tonight we enjoy a Gin Tasting.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following a leisurely breakfast for our return journey home with a lunch stop in Richmond en-route.
