Menton Lemon Festival, Nice Carnival & Italy

Itinerary

Wednesday 12th Feb
Depart Leyland at 13:00pm for our journey to Newcastle where we will board our overnight ferry to take us on a mini cruise to Amsterdam, disembark the coach (we suggest taking an overnight bag with medication and essentials you will need for the crossing and your overnight hotel, there will be no access to anything left onboard the coach during the crossing). We will have dinner onboard the ferry, enjoy the onboard entertainment before retiring to your cabin for the night.

Thursday 13th Feb
As we disembark, re-join the coach to continue our journey to our overnight hotel in Strasbourg, with a suitable lunch stop en-route, continue to Strasbourg, arriving in time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Friday 14th Feb
Check out of our overnight hotel following breakfast to continue our journey to the Italian Riviera with a suitable lunch stop en-route, arrive at Hotel Toscana in Alassio our Ligurian home for the next 5-nights, enjoy a warm Italian welcome with arrival drink as your bags are taken to your room allowing time to freshen up before your evening meal. Happy Valentines Day or as the Italians say, Buon San Valentino.

Saturday 15th Feb
This morning we enjoy at leisure in the resort, with lunch at the hotel before we travel to Nice, there's time to explore the old town and perhaps take a stroll along the famous Promenade des Anglais, this evening we take our seats to enjoy the magnificent views and party atmosphere of Nice Carnival Parade, watch brightly coloured and decorated floats accompanied by musicians and dancers as they travel around the city centre, on each float costumed models throw flowers to the enthusiastic crowd, a truly unique and memorable spectacle.

Sunday 16th Feb
Travel along the coast to join in the fun at Fete du Citron with a visit to Menton for the Lemon Festival, each year the citizens of Menton try to outdo each other with lemon inspired creations that require more than 145 tonnes of citrus fruit. Visit the giant sculptures in the Bioves Gardens which becomes a wonderful sea of orange and yellow before taking your seats, enjoy the procession of citrus fruit decorated floats, marching bands and drum majorettes.
Monday 17th Feb
A free day to relax and enjoy Alassio and the surrounding area, today the choice is yours.
Tuesday 18th Feb
Following breakfast, join the coach for a scenic journey along the coast to the ancient maritime city of Savona, rich in history and the third largest city in Liguria, easily explored on foot in a day. Wander narrow streets and medieval alleyways lined with colourful buildings leading down to the port and Mediterranean Sea.
Wednesday 19th Feb
Our time in Italy has come to an end, following breakfast bid a fond farewell to our wonderful Italian hosts as we depart the sun-soaked coast to begin our journey to Strasbourg with a suitable lunch stop along the way. Arriving at our overnight hotel in time for dinner. (we suggest a bag with your essentials for the overnight hotel and the overnight crossing from Amsterdam back to Newcastle).
Thursday 20th February
Check out of our overnight hotel following breakfast as we begin our journey to Amsterdam Port, with a suitable lunch stop en-route, board the evening ferry from Amsterdam back to Newcastle, once onboard disembark the coach (we suggest taking an overnight bag with medication and essentials you will need for the crossing, there will be no access to anything left onboard the coach during the crossing). We will have dinner onboard the ferry, enjoy the onboard entertainment before retiring to your cabin for the night.

Friday 21st February
Enjoy breakfast on board before re-joining the coach to disembark in Hull and continue our journey home.
